Oh my just how these past few days have been great for us geeks, for those who don,t know, Disney just bought 20th century fox and most of their brands, to the normal folk this wont make any difference, however to anyone who likes comic book movies this is great news as fox has been dangling the rights to many marvel heroes and villains for years in front of the fans, like : "Galactus, the fantastic four,m X-Men and many more " this is great news for all marvel fans as many of our favorite characters have not gotten their big screen break, or their movies have been incredibly awful cough fantastic four cough, and as we all know marvel is the king of great movies, even if all their movies have the same design they still entertain us greatly, moreover fans have been demanding the X-Men fight along side the Avengers for years and they finally will get their wish, it is to be noted that spider-man was included in a couple of Marvel movies while the character was still in Fox's hands, but even then the companies were not exactly friendly.
Also included in the deal are the rights to the fan favorite Merc with a mouth Deadpool, and this has had fans worried since the day the deal was announced because we all know Disney has almost always been family friendly and as anyone who has read any Deadpool comics or seen the movie the character isn't exactly family friendly at all, and thankfully Bob Iger the Disney CEO has responded to the fans concerns about the future of Deadpool's movies, he has been quoted saying "(Deadpool) clearly has been and will be Marvel branded .But we think might be an opportunity for a Marvel-R brand for something like Deadpool," and he continued to say "As long as we let the audiences know what's coming, we think we can manage that fine." so this has comforted fans greatly, as we can almost be certain Deadpool will stay the R-Rated bad ass we know and love.
It is to be noted that these are not the only rights Disney has now, they also have the rights to "Avatar, Aliens and The Simpsons" so it will be really interesting to see how Disney will influence these franchises, i really do think that as business Disney will let these franchises continue doing their own thing just like before as that would entail the most financial benefit to the Walt Disney company.
