Has hollywood run out of ideas?

Worldwide entertainment begins and ends with Hollywood so you would think that with all the talented writers Hollywood should be full of creativity however anyone who has seen the latest movies knows that most are either prequels and or sequels which is pitiful, on the other hand there have been a lot of breakout movies that have no previous iterations, and people have been wondering why is it that 95% of all movies are not original,hell, even some original movies are full of cliches making us wonder why they were made in the first place, but why is that? because all movies start with an original idea so why is it that these days there are no independent big budget movies? 

 This year had arguably one of the best original movies in the last few years, Get out, the movie had clever foreshadowing and a great plot and interesting characters, and it was a great movie and it got a lot of success, so one might be baffled as to why not a lot of studios support new movies if this one had great success, well the fact of the matter is the movie itself was a gamble, as for every one of these great standalone movies there is about 20 bad ones that are just a waste of money, case and point "A cure for Wellness" it was an original flick and it had some promise but no cigar as it flopped, so the thing is there is potential for greatness in upcoming movies but most of the time it is just a gamble.

Thing is directors and studios are scared, to us they may seem filthy rich and well they are but to most studios spending 40$ million on a new movie and having it making next to nothing is a huge business  failure as it could deter potential investors away from them, furthermore you should factor in the cost of marketing, so in the end can we really blame studios for playing it safe and risk-free? the answer is both yes and no, you see a working formula is a big cash pile for the studio, and with the likes of Transformer movies bringing in billions these studios have no need to deviate away from the franchises that are destined to bring in the big bucks because which ever way you want to look at it the movie industry is a  business so most studios care only about the money, but the possibility of birthing a new franchise out of an original movie is high, so there is an incentive for the big studios to invest in new movies, for now we can only hope that we will see new upcoming promising original movies down the road.
